How to Deploy & Run TorToiSe model (turn ANY text into speech!)

In this tutorial we're walking through how to deploy and run the TorToiSe text-to-speech model on serverless GPUs. Our tutorial is welcoming for all skill levels, minimal AI knowledge or coding experience is required to follow along and deploy your own TorToiSe model.

This tutorial is easy to follow because we are using a Community Template. Templates are user-submitted model repositories that are optimized and setup to run on Banana's serverless GPU infrastructure. All you have to do is click deploy and in a few minutes your model is ready to use on Banana. Pretty sweet! Here is the direct link to the TorToiSe model template on Banana.

What is TorToiSe?

TorToiSe is an open source text-to-speech model developed by James Betker. It has gained popularity due to its voice outputs being realistic and high quality. With TorToiSe, you can upload custom voices (three 10-second audio clips of a voice is recommended) and get text-to-speech generated vocals from that custom voice. There are a bunch of sample voices you can choose from and mix together if you prefer to do that instead of uploading a custom voice.

In the tutorial we used a virtual environment on our machine to run our demo model. If you are wanting to create your own virtual environment use these commands (Mac):

• create virtual env: python3 -m venv venv
• start virtual env: source venv/bin/activate
• packages to install:
• pip install banana_dev
• pip install IPython
